Department of PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Institute of Physical Education Sports and Yogic Sciences

Department of Physical Education was accorded the status of an institute of physical education and sports in the year 2018 after taking its initiation by then hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Manoj Dixit. In the year 2020, when restructuring of departments and courses of the university campus took place according to their innate nature and compatibility, initiated by hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof R.S. Singh, the institute was upgraded by merging institute of physical education and sports; and institute of yogic science as an Institute of Physical Education, Sports and Yogic Sciences (IPESYS). Thus, it consists of two departments- department of physical education and sports; and department of yogic science.

Department of Physical Education and Sports

Department of Physical Education came into existence in the year 2005 under the able leadership of then hon’ble vice-chancellor Dr S. B. Singh mooting it as a comprehensive developmental programme focused on the education of the whole person. Moreover, physical education provides opportunities for students to achieve the knowledge, skills, and values that will develop and enhance their sense of wellness, as well as, improve their health to maximize the quality of their lives. It aims to develop a quality physical education program that emphasizes enjoyable participation in physical activities; to help students develop the knowledge, attitude, motor skills, social skills and confidence needed to begin and maintain a healthy, physically active lifestyle for the rest of their life. The modern developments in the field of Physical Education & Sports Sciences has given immense significance to course of studies like Sports Management, Sports Training, Sports Bio-Mechanics, Sports Nutrition, Yogic Sciences, , Health & fitness, Event management for the Healthy people of society.
