THE CITY OF AYODHYA-Ayodhya :

The twin city Ayodhya-Ayodhya is situated on the bank of Holy river Saryu, about 127Km east of Lucknow, the capital of U.P. province of India. The foundation of Ayodhya city was laid by Nawab Saadat Khan (second Nawab of Awadh) whereas the city of religious and mythological importance, Ayodhya, is believed to be the birth place of Lord Rama. Ayodhya worldwide is known as one of the prime religious centers of Hindu pilgrimage. There exist over 1500 Hindu temples, 05 Jain temples, 04 Sikh Gurudvaras, over 100 of Muslim shrines and monuments, and several folk monuments. Important tourist places of Ayodhya are Gulab Bari, Bahu Begum Maqbara, Guptar Ghat, Bharat Kund, Cantonment Garden whereas prime places of religious & tourists importance in Ayodhya are Hanuman Garhi, Saryu Ghat, Nageshwar Nath temple, Kanak Bhawan, Rang Mahal temple, Jhunki Ghat garden, Ayodhya Research Centre, International Ram Katha Museum, Memorial to Korean Queen Huh etc.

HOW TO REACH :

The twin city of Ayodhya-Ayodhya is well connected with important cities of India by rail and roads. National Highway NH-28 connects Lucknow (130 km west) and Gorakhpur (145 km east) with Ayodhya whereas NH-96 connects Ayodhya with Allahabad (167 km south) and State Highway SH-27 connects Varanasi (200 km south-east) to Ayodhya. Nearest airport to the University is Lucknow-Airport which is 140 Kms from the city. Other nearer airports are Varanasi airport, about 190 km away and Allahabad airport, about 180 km away from the twin city Ayodhya-Ayodhya.
